Yang Chunfeng (杨春风) was a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and an amateur mountain climber, who reached the top of Mount Everest in 2007 and Mount Qoqir, the second highest mountain in the world, in 2012.

Yang was shot to death when climbing Mount Nanga Parbat, the ninth highest mountain in the world with an altitude of 8,125 meters on June 22, 2013 by unidentified men. His Chinese companion Rao Jianfeng was also killed. Jundullah, a fraction of Pakistani Taliban, has claimed the responsibility for the attack.

A 45-year-old native from Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Yang was known for his 10 previous climbing adventures. The local government posted a message of condolences on its Weibo (the Chinese equivalent of Twitter) after the announcement of Yang’s death.
