Rao Jianfeng (饶剑锋) was a real estate businessman and an amateur mountain climber, who was shot to death by a group of unidentified men in Pakistan, June 22, 2013. Jundullah, a fraction of Pakistani Taliban, has claimed the responsibility for the attack.

He was pulled out of his tent and shot by unidentified men when on his way to Mount Nanga Parbat, the ninth highest peak in the world with an altitude of 8,125 meters. His Chinese companion Yang Chunfeng (杨春风) was also killed.

At 49, Rao had some climbing experience; he had already climbed nine mountains with peaks above 8,000 meters each.

Rao had survived foggy weathers and the lack of oxygen when climbing mountains. However, he was not fortunate enough to escape the attack at Mount Nanga Parbat – Rao’s 10th adventure.

A Shenzhen resident, Rao was known for his real estate business.
