Six new aviation groups

As a part of the reform of China's civil aviation industry and the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC), six new aviation groups were born in 2002.

They include three air transport groups, represented by China National Aviation Holding Company, China Eastern Airlines Holding Company and China Southern Air Holding Company; and other three aviation service and security groups, which are China Aviation Fuel Group, China Civil Aviation Information Group and China Aviation Supplies Import and Export Group.

China National Aviation Holding Company has three parts: Air China, China National Aviation Corporation and China Southwest Airlines. It has total assets of 57.3 billion yuan, 119 transport aircraft, and 307 routes of operation.

China Eastern Air Holding Company is based on China Eastern Airlines but also contains China Northwest Airlines and Yunnan Airlines. It has total assets of 47.3 billion yuan, 142 transport aircraft, and 386 routes of operation.

China Southern Air Holding Company is based on China Southern Airlines and combined with China Northern Airlines and Xinjiang Airlines. It has total assets of 50.1 billion yuan, 180 transport aircraft, and 666 routes of operation.
