China Eastern Airlines Co. Ltd., one of three state-owned key aviation enterprise groups of China, was founded on July 25, 1988. In 1997, China Eastern Airlines became the first Chinese airline company listed in Hong Kong, New York and Shanghai. It was restructured in 2002 by merging China Northwest Airlines and combining with Yunnan Airlines on the basis of former China Eastern Group. Headquartered in Shanghai, China Eastern Airlines operates an air network running through the eastern and western parts of China and connecting with Asia, Europe, Australia and Americas.

The group has a registered capital of 2.558 billion yuan, total asset of about 51.699 billion yuan, 35000 employees, 168 large and middle modern transport aircrafts, 22 general-purpose aircrafts, and 450 international and domestic airlines. The group is also widely engaged in import and export, finance, in-flight foodstuff, real estate, advertising media, machinery production and other fields with holding over 20 branch companies.
