Beijing-Shanghai Express Air Service
On August 6, 2007, five Chinese airlines jointly launched China's first express air service between Beijing Capital International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. Flights between the two cities arrive and depart every 30 minutes. The five airlines involved are China Eastern Airlines, Air China, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines and Shanghai Airlines; they provide travelers with quicker check-ins, security checks, boarding and luggage collection through designated passages.
The express air service, initiated by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, allows travelers to change tickets for other flights among the five domestic airlines as long as they have not gone through the boarding procedure. The CAAC also ensures a maximum three-hour journey from check-in to baggage claim. The Beijing Capital International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao Airport have set aside exclusive counters for the service.
