Zhaoxing in Liping County is China's largest community of Dong ethnic minority people. The village is divided into five communities that are named respectively after desirable moral qualities – Ren (Benevolence), Yi (Justice), Li (Propriety), Zhi (Wisdom) and Xin (Trustworthiness).

Located in a valley encircled by mountains, Zhaoxing nestles in the shade of giant trees and is ringed by dense forests and bamboo groves. Along the rivers that winds their ways through the village are stilted houses in orderly alignment, crop-sunning racks, fish pools and bridges. Zhaoxing fascinates visitors by its unique Dong culture, folkways and architecture, such as drum towers, stages and stilted buildings.
