Zhang Guiying (张贵英) is the girlfriend of Zhou Kehua, China's most wanted criminal before he was shot dead on Aug. 14, 2012.

Zhang was born in 1992 in Xintian Village of Liduan Town of Yibin City, Sichuan Province. She has a younger brother. Except for suffering from epilepsy, Zhang has a hot temper and is said to be of an reticent and eccentric disposition.

After graduating from junior secondary school in 2008, Zhang went on to work in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province. She returned to her hometown the following year and became a call girl in Yibin. In later years, she would meet the infamous Zhou Kehua and live with him. Zhang said that Zhou spent some 10,000 yuan (US$1,608) on her every week.

Zhou was shot dead by Chongqing police on Aug. 14, 2012. The next day, Zhang was detained and their shared room was sealed up by police.

On Jan. 15, 2013, Zhang stood trial at the Chongqing Shapingba District Court. She was accused of helping Zhou Kehua hide from authorities when he was on the run as well as helping him conceal the money he had robbed. Prosecutors asked that she receive a four- to seven-year prison sentence and be fined.

Zhang reportedly retracted an earlier testimony and said at the trial that she was not sure the man police killed was Zhou Kehua. She added that she had not actually conducted a relationship with Zhou, but lived with him for the money.

According to Yao Fei, Zhang's defense lawyer, it is very likely they will plead innocent, claiming she is "mentally immature." Her trial lasted nearly five hours, yet a date for proclaiming the verdict still needs to be set.
