After the September 18th Incident and North China Incident, the Chinese people rallied to the call of the Communist Party of China to join the anti-Japanese struggle.

The Wayaobao Meeting, held on December 17, 1935 in Wayaobao, Shaanxi Province, discussed the building of an anti-Japanese national united front and rejected leftist objections to uniting with the national bourgeoisie to fight against Japanese aggression. After the meeting, Mao Zedong delivered a major report: “On Tactics against Japanese Imperialism” on December 27, 1935.

Mao Zedong’s report summarized the experiences of revolutionary wars in China and analyzed the current state of class relations in China. The meeting criticized Wang Ming’s leftist policy and decided to set up a united front against the Japanese.
