Tanzam Railway

From Wiki China org cn

Failing to obtain Western support, Tanzania and Zambia turned to China for help in building the 1,860 km railway that covered a distance of 960 km in Tanzania and 884 km in Zambia. The rail line, running between Dar es Salaam of Tanzania and Kapiri-Mposhi of Zambia on the Zambian border, was built with Chinese aid from 1970 to 1976. Since there were many mountains, canyons and marshes along the line of TAZARA, 320 bridges and 26 tunnels or open cut tunnels were constructed along the line with the joint efforts of the Chinese, Tanzanian and Zambian people.
