As one of the most beautiful structures in Shanghai, Shanghai Center was funded and constructed jointly by American and Japanese businessmen.
This grand building is situated in the west section of Nanjing Road (W.). Composed of the main building, the east tower, the west tower and a few attached buildings, it occupies a total area of 185,000 sq. m. A combination of Chinese and Western architectural styles, it looks quite imposing. Now the building houses the Portman Ritz-Carlton (Shanghai), a five-star hotel. Also, there are a few multi-function halls, a high-class theatre, and a roof garden.
