Located in the Duanshen countryside, Wuyuan County of Jiangxi Province, Qingyuan Village is also called Xiao Taoyuan and was established in 763 during the reign of Emperor Guangde of the Tang Dynasty, with nearly 1,300 years of history. It has huge mountains, a peculiar topography and deep valleys, as well as a mild climate. The village possesses a profound historical culture and widespread architectural heritage. Qingyuan is a cute little place, slightly off the well-beaten track of more popular tourist villages. It is characterized by old official mansions and gallery bridges, as well as nuo dances, which are performed to ward off evil influences.

How to get there: The village is very remote without public transportation. You'd better drive there or hire a car.

Tips: 1. The best season to visit the village is March to May, when golden rape flowers are in full bloom all over the mountains and plains, creating a paradise for photographers; 2. Be sure to taste the mountain spring flowing along the ancient courier route. It tastes fresh and cool; 3. For photographers, a guide is necessary who charges 10 yuan and can show you the best angle for the photograph;   4. Inns available here but generally without standard rooms.
