Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf” (or “Happy Sheep and Grey Wolf”) is a Chinese animation series that is aired on nearly 50 local channels, including CCTV, Hong Kong’s TVB and BTV Animation Channel. Recently, its creator Creative Power Entertaining Corporation (CPE), a Guangdong Province-based animation company, and Disney affiliate Buena Vista, agreed to air the cartoon on Disney channels in 52 countries and regions, including India, Singapore and Australia.

First created by Huang Weijian, Lin Yuting and Luo Yinggeng, the animation now has nearly 700 episodes, which focusing on the endless yet laughable conflicts between the goats and the wolf couples. The story begins in the future, 3131, the year of the goat. A couple of wolves, Grey Wolf and his wife Red Wolf, move to the Green Green Grassland to hunt some goats living there happily. Yet Grey Wolf’s hunting endeavors are always thwarted by a group of child goats, led by Pleasant Goat.

Initially aired in 2005 on the Child’s Channel of Hangzhou Television, the cartoon was soon popular nationwide. The images of the protagonists are ubiquitously printed on children’s clothes or made into toys. In January 2009, its first movie, “The Super Snail Adventure,” was launched in China and set a box-office record for a Chinese animated film by grossing about 100 million yuan ($15.03 million). One year later, “The Tiger Prowess,” another Pleasant Goat film, grossed 130 million yuan.
