Nanling National Forest Park

Situated in the Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County bordering Hunan Province, the Nanling National Forest Park covers a total area of 27,300 hectares. It boasts a well-preserved natural ecosystem. From its foot up, the first 1,000 meters is a belt of evergreen broad-leaf forest, the next 1,000-1,500 m change to a mixture of evergreen broad-leaves and deciduous trees with a few needle-leaf trees, and the 1,500 m above is a coppice forest and brush groves. More than 2,000 species of plants are found in the park, including ten rare species under first- and second-level state protection, and fourteen species under the third-level state protection. There are 70 species of mammals, 125 species of birds, 11 species of amphibians and 31 species of reptiles in the park.
