Left-over men and women (剩男剩女) usually refers to Chinese people who remain single when reaching the age for marriage. Although more and more people choose to get married in late 20s, those who are not married by that age are often called “left-over” men or women. According to an internet survey that polled over 8,000 Chinese, women ought not to remain single after the age of 29 and men should be married by the time they are 35.
