Hou Xirui

Hou Xihui was a Peking Opera performer and famous for playing clowns. He was born in 1892 in Hebei Province to a Muslim family from the Hui ethnic group. After 1949, Hou taught at the Beijing Academy of Chinese Theater Arts and the National Academy of Chinese Theater Arts.
He died on February 22, 1983.
