Grand Buddha Temple

Grand Buddha Temple is a provincial-level scenic spot in Xinchang County, 165 km away from Hangzhou. It is noted for its largest statue of Buddha south of the Yangtze River. Carved on a precipitous cliff of Nanming Hill, the exquisite 13.2-m-high Maitreya Buddha sits cross-legged in a 2.4-m-high and 15-m-wide pedestal, with hands placed on the lap and palms upward. Each of the ears is as long as 2.7 m.
