Golden Rooster and Full Blossom Film Festival

Golden Rooster and Full Blossom Film Festival (金鸡百花电影节) is a five-day movie event held every year in various cities in China. Initiated by the China Federation of Literature and Art Circles and the China Filmmaker Association in 1992, the event is regarded as one of the four biggest film festivals, along with the Changchun Film Festival, the Shanghai International Film Festival and the Zhuhai Film Festival.

Recently, the 19th Golden Rooster and Full Blossom Film Festival wrapped up in Jiangyin, Jiangsu Province. Chen Kun and Vicky Zhao won the best leading actor and actress, and “The Founding of the Republic” was awarded with the Best Feature Film. Feng Xiaogang won the Best Director for his comedy “If You Are the One,” andAlec Su won the Best Supporting Actor for the espionage film “The Message.”

Although Jiangyin received 50-million yuan in sponsorships to build and renovate its facilities, the festival is less eye-catching than in previous years. Many nominees, including Zhou Xun, Fan Binbin and Huang Xiaoming did not attend the event, apparently knowing they didn’t win any awards.
