Global Village of Beijing (GVB) is a non-governmental and non-profit organization in China organized in Match 3, 1996 with six staff. It is dedicated to enhance public awareness and to promote public involvement in environmental protection.

Time for Environment GVB has been independently producing a weekly TV program, Time for Environment, since April 22, 1996. It broadcasts twice a week, Fridays at 18:38 and Saturdays at 13:03 on China's Central Television (CCTV-7).

Environmental Publications GVB has written a series of environmental guidebooks, Citizen’s Environmental Guide and Children’s Environmental Guide, which were co-endorsed by China’s National Environmental Protection Agency and GVB and published in 1998.

Environmental Forum GVB co-organized with the Beijing Women Journalists Association the Forum on Women Journalists and the Environment which has been held annually since 1996.

Recycling Campaign GVB has successfully initiated the first recycling pilot project in communities and schools throughout Beijing.

Chinese Youth Green Action Started in November 1996, the action involved over three thousand youths from 25 provinces in China. From this activity, a mail group, the Green Volunteer Network, was set up. Green Children Project based on the philosophy of the Children Project, which encourages the private sector to donate money to schools, GVB set up the Green Children Project. The project hopes to obtain funding to educate children in environmental issues at school.

Conservation GVB is setting up the first NGO’s conservancy in Yanqing county of Beijing for education base of biodiversity protection.

GVB’s efforts to protect the environment have received worldwide attention from the media, including agencies such as Reuters, The Japanese Daily and CNN. On his trip to Guilin, China, President Clinton also praised the multiple efforts conducted by GVB to preserve the environment: “Thanks for your good work for our common home!” GVB survives on the contributions from those whore are concern with China’s environmental protection. It has received grants from the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), World Wide Funds for Nature (WWF), the Ford Foundation, the Japanese Fund for Global Environment and the US Environment Protection Agency (USEPA).
