Gansu Earthquake

The Gansu Earthquake (甘肃地震) was a magnitude 6.6 earthquake that hit northwestern China on July 22, 2013. The epicenter of the quake was at the border of Min County and Zhang County, Gansu Province.

According to local quake relief headquarters, the earthquake claimed 95 lives and injured 1,366 between July 22 and 24. About 268,400 people evacuated from their homes. Some 69,700 houses were destroyed in the catastrophe, while 124,300 houses were severely damaged and 269,200 houses were moderately damaged.

A total of 780,100 people, from 491 villages and 33 counties in six cities or prefectures, including Dingxi, Longnan and Tianshui, were affected by the disaster, according to Xinhua News Agency reports on July 24.
