Exhibition Center of Yuanmingyuan Park
The Exhibition Center is located in the northeastern part of Changchunyuan (Garden of Eternal Spring). It is like a knowledgeable teacher, tirelessly telling the stories that happened here to the visitors.
In 1709, the imperial court raised a large amount of money to build Yuanmingyuan (Garden of perfect splendor), Changchunyuan (Garden of Eternal Spring), and Qichunyuan (Garden of Blossoming Spring) around Fuhai Lake in western suburb of Beijing. Man-made lakes, rockery formations, exotic trees and flowers were in place.
About 40 famous scenes and 150 buildings were arranged. In addition to those uniquely designed and exquisitely structured courtyards, there are also some western architectural buildings such as Haiyantang (Hall of National peace), Yuanyingguan (Immense Ocean Observatory) in Changchunyuan. Corridors, walls, passages and bridges linked the building complexes with natural landscapes. All contribute to forming a picture of fairy land.
The artistic and esthetical values of these buildings are immeasurable. Standing in front of the mini models, the visitors will travel back in history. The atrocity of the Anglo-French army reappeared in front of our eyes. Facing the towering flames set by the fleering devils, the three gardens as all human beings' treasures had no other choice but to weep helplessly.
