Cuibei Wetland Nature Reserve lies in the source of the Ximalu River and Kulebin River in Heilongjiang Province. In the reserve, rivers crisscross and lakes scatter like stars in the sky. It is a typical wetland at higher latitude in North China.

Korean pine broad-leaved mixed forest and bright coniferous trees both exist in the reserve. Forest swamps, herbaceous swamps, peat bryophyte swamps, water plants and wet meadow pattern like islands. There are 164 kinds of birds in the reserve, including 9 types of Class-A and 29 types of Class-B protected species. There are 37 kinds of animals, including 1 type of Class-A and 36 types of Class-B protected species. And there are 1120 varieties of plants, including 37 types of protected species at the national level, and about 100 kinds of medical herbs, which have potential to be further explored.
