The Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS), founded in 1956, is China's state-level academic center and comprehensive scientific research institution in medical sciences. Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) is China's first key national medical college offering eight-year clinical medicine programs and B.A. degree in nursing. It predecessor was founded by the US Rockefeller Foundation in 1917. The CAMS and the PUMC are under one administration. The CAMS provides strong teacher teams and techological personnel whilst the PUMC trains high-caliber medical personnel. The CAMS has 18 research institutes, five branches, seven clinical hospitals, including the Beijing Tiantan Hospital, and five schools.
