Chen Kuiyuan

Born in January 1941, ethnic Han, native of Kangping, Liaoning Province. Started working in September 1964; joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in May 1965; graduate of Political Education Department of the Inner Mongolia Normal School.

1960-1964: Studied at the Political Education Department of the Inner Mongolia Normal School;

1964-1972: Teacher of the Party school of Hulun Buir League of Inner Mongolia and member of the Political Work Group of the Office of the Revolutionary Committee of the League;

1972-1973: Clerk at the office of the Revolutionary Committee of Hulun Buir League;

1973-1978: Head of the Publicity Section of the Party Committee of the Hulun Buir League;

1978-1980: Vice-president of the Party School in Hulun Buir League

1980-1982: Deputy secretary-general and acting secretary-general of the CPC Hulun Buir League Committee;

1982-1983: Secretary-general, Standing Committee member of the CPC Hulun Buir League Committee;

1983-1989: Deputy secretary, secretary of the CPC Hulun Buir League Committee;

1989-1991: Standing Committee member of the CPC Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee;

1991-1992: Standing Committee member of the CPC Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee, Vice-chairman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional People's Government;

1992-2000: Deputy secretary and secretary of the CPC Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee;

2000-2002: Secretary of the CPC Henan Provincial Committee;

2002-2003: President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the academy;

2003-: Vice-chairman of the 10th CPPCC National Committee and secretary of the committee's Leading Party Members' Group, and president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and secretary of the academy's Leading Party Members' Group.

Member of the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th CPC Central Committees, and vice-chairman of the 10th and 11th CPPCC National Committees.
