All-China Youth Federation

All-China Youth Federation is a federation of youth organizations and an organization of broad united front of patriotic youth of various nationalities in China, with the Communist Youth League of China as its nucleus.

Founded on May 4, 1949, in Beijing, it was originally called the All-China Federation of Democratic Youth, then the All-China Association of Democratic Youth. It took its present name in April 1958.

The Federation includes members of the Communist Youth League of China, the All-China Students’ Federation, the All-China Young Men’s Christian Association, the All-China Young Women’s Christian Association and youth associations of various provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.

The basic tasks of the All-China Youth Federation are: to unite, educate and urge China’s youth of all ethnic groups to study Marxism, Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of Three Represents; by heightening the young people’s sense of internationalism and their love for the country and socialism, to guide them in arming themselves with knowledge of modern science, technology and culture in order to build China into a strong modern socialist country highly democratic and culturally developed, and in the struggles for China’s national reunification and against imperialism, hegemony, colonialism and racism and for world peace.

The highest leading organ of the All-China Youth Federation is its National Committee, which is composed of deputies elected by its member organizations and those specially invited. A Standing Committee is elected by the National Committee, consisting of the Chairperson, Vice-Chairpersons and a number of members to provide central leadership. Under the Standing Committee are the Secretary-General and his deputies helping the Chairperson and Vice-Chairpersons in day-to-day work.
