Huangpu River
The Huangpu River, the most important shipping artery of Shanghai, rises in Anji County, Zhejiang Province, and flows into the East China Sea, with a total length of 113 km.
The river divides the metropolis into two parts: Pudong (to her east) and Puxi (to her west). The world-famous Bund lies between the Waibaidu Bridge and Jinling Road (E.). The eye-catching and grand-looking 20-plus buildings of different architectural styles (including Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classic and Renaissance) always appeal to visitors. On the east bank stands Lujiazui Financial and Trade Area, which is the best witness to the fast development of Shanghai. There, rows of modern skyscrapers of different architectural styles stand opposite the Bund.
The Huangpu River is Shanghai’s pride. She looks attractive day or night. Newly built bridges (Nanpu Bridge, Yangpu Bridge, Xupu Bridge and Lupu Bridge) not only connect Pudong and Puxi, but also add much grace to the river.
