1915 - Chen Duxiu launched The Youth magazine.

1954 - The First National People's Congress opened in Beijing.

1956 - The 8th Party Congress raised the idea that "the principal contradiction in China is no longer class struggle".

1975 - Chinese painter and writer Feng Zikai died.

1990 - China's first video telephone connected Beijing to Shanghai.

1993 - Yangpu suspension bridge - the longest in the world - completed.
