The First China Hi-Tech Fair

The first China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF), jointly organized by Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information Industry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Shenzhen Municipal Government kicked off in Shenzhen on the evening of October 5, 1999. Three major sections presented at the CHTF were Commercialization of Technological Innovation, Specialized Show and Forums.

There were 2,856 enterprises and other agencies that participated in this fair, including 955 investors (125 from abroad). A total of 4,159 high-tech items were exhibited, belonging to categories involving information technology, photo-mechatronics, astronautics, aeronautics, neo-material, biotechnology, oceanography, eco-agriculture, energy and more. Over 30 multinational companies and a handful of renowned national high-tech enterprises presented their latest products and technology during the five-day fair.
