S.H.E
Taiwan girl band, S.H.E, takes its name from its three members Selina Jen, Hebe Tien and Ella Chen. Since the girls’ first public appearance, on September 11, 2001, they have recorded 12 albums and sold 15 million copies.
The girls were discovered in a talent contest when the Taiwan music industry was in the doldrums. Their first album—Girls Dorm was an instant success, selling 50,000 copies in the first week after its release. Their fame spread to the mainland and across East Asia.
But the group suffered a dreadful setback in 2010 when Selina Jen was seriously injured in an explosion while shooting an action scene for the TV drama I Have a Date with Spring in October. Selina suffered third degree burns on her arms, hands, thighs and back and is currently undergoing skin grafts. There have been rumors the group will disband, but the girls have assured fans that Selina is recovering and the band will reunite.
