Ning Zetao won the men's 100 meters freestyle title at the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia, on Aug. 5, 2015.

Ning Zetao (宁泽涛) is a Chinese short-distance freestyle swimmer of PLA Navy's swimming team. The world championship debutant stunned the world with a historic win in the blue-ribbon men's 100-meter freestyle in 47.84 seconds at the 2015 16th FINA World Championships held at Kazan, Russia, ending the Western domination in the event to become the first Asian swimmer to have broken the 48-second barrier.

At the 2014 Asian Games held in Incheon, South Korea, he won gold medals in the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter freestyle, 4 x 100-meter freestyle relay and 4 x 100-meter medley relay, setting the Asian record in the men's 100-meter freestyle Final and Men's 4 x 100-meter freestyle relay Final. Ning has won great popularity in China for his good results in pool and good looking since the Asian Games 2014.

On January 24, 2016, Ning was awarded as the Best Male Athlete of China's Central Television Sports Personality of 2015.
