Maoling Mausoleum

Located about nine kilometers northeast of Qingping county seat, it is burial ground of Emperor Wudi of the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), the largest of the all Western Han emperors' mausoleums. It took 53 years to build, and is 46.5 m high Around the mausoleum are 12 subordinate tombs, including that for Huo Qubing, a famous Han-dynasty general. In front of the tomb stand 16 large stone sculptures, China's oldest and most intact group of stone carvings still extant.
