Situated in the southwest part of Shanghai, Grand View Garden stands by the east bank of the well-known Dianshan Lake.

The garden is divided into two scenic sections. In the eastern section the main scenes include Plum Flower Garden, where 4,000 plums have been planted so that it looks like a vast plum sea, Hundred Flower Garden, Sweet Osmanthus Garden, the Folk Cultural Village, where visitors can enjoy many well-known structures of the provinces of Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan, and the folk customs and arts of some minority ethnic groups, while in the western section there is the pseudo-classic building complex, Da Guan Yuan (meaning “Grand View Garden”), where visitors can listen to the special Hong Lou (Red Mansion ) melody, taste the extraordinary Hong Lou feast, appreciate the splendid Hong Lou house and dress up as a character in the famous play Hong lou meng (A Dream of Red Mansions).

What’s more, visitors may also take a stroll along the 350-plus meter long embankment flanked by lines of willows by the bank of the Dianshan Lake, watching small boats sailing to and fro and lovely birds flying up and down in the sky.
