Deputies to the NPC (人大代表 rén dà dài biǎo) refer to component members of the National People's Congress and collectively exercise the power of the highest state organ. According to the Constitution and the Organization Law of the National People's Congress, each deputy serves a term of five years beginning with the opening of the 1st session of each NPC and ends with the 1st session of the following NPC. Deputies emerged from by-elections shall serve from the date of election to the end of the present term of office of the NPC. (More...)
