Chinese athlete Zhu Jianhua (Chinese:朱建华) successfully completed jumps at 2.10 m, 2.18 m, 2.22 m, 2.26 m, 2.30 m and 2.34 m before clearing 2.38 meters at the Fifth National Games to break the men's high-jump world record on September 22, 1983.
