Zhou Mingwei (周明伟)

Zhou Mingwei (周明伟) is current president of the China International Publishing Group and executive member of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

Zhou, Han nationality, was born in May 1955 in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. He began his career in October 1972. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in October 1983. He graduated from the Department of International Politics of Fudan University in July 1984.

From May 1984 to March 1996, he successively served as secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee of Fudan University, assistant president of the university, director of the university's President Office, and director of the university's Foreign Affairs Office. During this period of time, he studied in the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy of the State University of New York and the John F. Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University.

From March 1996 to July 2000, he was appointed deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal People's Government, secretary of the leading Party group of the office, director of the office, alternate member of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, and member of the committee.

From July 2000 to December 2003, he was appointed deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Central Committee of the CPC, and deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office under the State Council.

In December 2003, he was appointed vice president of the China International Publishing Group.

In July 2009, he was appointed president of the China International Publishing Group.

Zhou is delegate to the 16th CPC National Congress. He is executive member of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, executive member of the Chinese Institute of Foreign Affairs, executive member of the China Association for Preservation and Development of Tibetan Culture, and vice council leader of the China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese.
