Zhou Jianping

Zhou Jianping (周建平) is the general engineer of China’s manned space projects.

Born in January 1957, Hunan Province, he holds a doctoral degree insolid mechanics from the National University of Defense Technology since October 1989. He started leading China’s manned space programs in 2000, making major contributions to spacecrafts Shenzhou 4, Shenzhou 5 and Shenzhou 6.

He was the director and researcher of China’s Manned Space Projects Office.

He now works as the general engineer of Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, general designer of the launching spot system, general director and designer of China’s manned space programs. He isalso a board member of the Chinese Society of Astronautics and a member of the standing committee of China Association for Science and Technology.

In 1999, he was awarded the National Science Funds for Outstanding Youths.
