Zheng Yuanjie

Zheng Yuanjie is a noted philanthropist, public speaker and a widely acclaimed children’s author. Most of China’spost-1980s generation read his fairytale series "Pipilu and Luxixi", which were best-sellers when they were children 20 or so years ago.

In 1984, Zheng began publishing a children’s magazine "The King of Fairy Tales". It was a huge success, and by 2009 Zheng was listed as the richest writer in China.

Zheng has many unconventional views. He disagrees with school education, saying it makes simple things complicated, and tutored his son at home. He quit the Beijing Writers’ Association in April, 2010 after disagreeing with his colleagues’ reaction to the Yushu earthquake.
