Zhao Yunlei (赵芸蕾)

Zhao Yunlei (赵芸蕾) is a top player on the Chinese national badminton team. Zhao and her partner Zhang Nan won the mixed doubles Olympic title at the 2012 London Olympic Games. One day later Zhao and her partner Tian Qing won the gold in the women's doubles.

Born in Yichang, Hubei Province on Aug. 25, 1986, Zhao began to play badminton in 1995 and was enrolled into the Hubei badminton team in 2000. Three years later she made her way onto the Chinese national badminton team. Zhao is a right-handed player who excels in frontcourt attacking.

Major achievements:

2009:

German Open – champions in the mixed doubles competition (with Xu Chen) and the women's doubles competition (with Cheng Shu);

All England Open – runner-up in the women's doubles competition (with Cheng Shu);

2010:

Guangzhou Asian Games – champions in the women's team foil, women's doubles competition (with Tian Qing) and runner-up in the mixed doubles competition (with Zhang Nan);

The 5th East Asia Games (Hong Kong) – champion in the women's team foil;

BWF (Badminton World Federation) Super Series Finals – champion in the mixed doubles competition (with Zhang Nan) and runner-up in the women's doubles competition (with Cheng Shu);

2011:

Asian Badminton Championships – champion in the mixed doubles competition (with Zhang Nan) and runner-up in the women's doubles competition (with Tian Qing);

London Badminton World Championships – champion in the mixed doubles competition (with Zhang Nan) and runner-up in the women's doubles competition (with Tian Qing);

2012:

Asian Badminton Championships – champions in the mixed doubles competition (with Zhang Nan) and the women's doubles competition (with Tian Qing);

London Olympic Games – champions in the mixed doubles competition (with Zhang Nan) and the women's doubles competition (with Tian Qing).
