Located at the Olympic Sports Center, the Yingdong Natatorium of National Olympic Sports Center has set an example of resources-saving, solid waste treatment, protection against electronic interference and the use of new products to avoid ozone depleting substances. In the process of renovation, high-standard energy-saving fenders made of aluminum, magnesium and manganese alloys were used. Electric dormant windows were added to prevent "dirty heat" during the Olympic competitions and to introduce natural light for training and fitness activities after the Olympics. Meanwhile, with the use of the sunshade curtains inside, sunlight can be taken in maximum quantities to meet the needs of the Olympic competitions. The 1,700 square meter fixed solar battery array on the roof of the training complex neighboring the natatorium can collect enough solar energy for the lighting and water-heating needs of the venue. The renovated project has changed its single air-conditioning system to a dual one to fulfill the different temperature requirements of the stand and the competition area.
