Yi Siling
Yi Siling (易思玲), born in 1989 in Guiyang Town, Hunan Province, is a member of the Chinese Olympic team who competes in shooting. She became the first gold medalist at the London Olympics, winning the women’s 10-meter air rifle title.
Yi went into the 2012 Olympics as the world number one in the event, and she justified her ranking by beating Poland’s veteran shooter Sylwia Bogacka by a narrow margin of 0.7 points, at the Royal Artillery Barracks, only 11 hours after the opening ceremony.
She also won the 10-meter air rifle title at the International Shooting Sport Federation’s World Cup series in Munich a few weeks before the London Olympics.
After making her international debut in 2009, she medaled multiple times at both the Asian Games and World Championships.
General achievements: In 2009: Silver medalist in the 10-meter air rifle at the Asian Championships
In 2010: 10-meter air rifle champion at the Asian Games 10-meter air rifle champion at the World Championships in Munich. She also set a new world record with her score of 505.6 points, which was even more remarkable considering she had recently recovered from surgery to remove kidney stones.
In 2011: Second in the 10-meter air rifle at the Asian Championships
