The Yanqi Lake, literally means the lake where wild geese take a rest, is a picturestic water park situated at the foot of the the Great Wall 50 kilometers northeast from downtown Beijing.

The lake is nestled against mountains on three sides with its water surface mirroring the blue sky, offering a fantastic view and a perfect break from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Every year in spring and autumn, flocks of wild geese migrate to the lake, hence the name Geese Lake. The scenic spot was added into China's AAAA national tourism destination list in 2000.

The 2014 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting is slated to be held here in November.
