Yang Yuying (杨钰莹)

Yang Yuying (杨钰莹) was one of the most popular singers in Chinese mainland in 1990s.

Born on May 11, 1971 in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, Yang displayed her singing talent since childhood. She began to perform on the stage at six. In 1985 she won a prize in a national singing contest organized by the China Central Television. In 1991 she signed her first contract with the Guangzhou New Era Audio & Video Co., becoming one the first signed singers in Chinese mainland since 1978. Her first disc album was published in the same year. Up to now, Yang still keeps the highest record of disc sales in Chinese mainland.

Yang faded out from song circles since 2000. She traveled to many countries and studied in Canada. Recent reports say she will make a comeback in the near future after taking the break from the stage for 11 years. In mid January she appeared in the rehearsal of the Spring Festival gala at the Shenzhen TV. Although in her 40s, Yang showed few signs of aging.

Yang has a sweet voice and was crowned with the "Queen of Sweet Songs" in Chinese mainland. Her main works includes "Let Me Tell You Softly", "Bless for Love", "Dream Flowers", "I Don't Want to Say", "Wait for You for Ten Thousand Years", and ‘Because of You."

"Singing has changed my life. Working in song circles for so many years makes me know that life is colorful," said Yang. "And a calm and peaceful mood is very important in this process."
