Minister in charge of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and President of the Central Institute of Ethnic Administrators

Yang Jing, Mongolia ethnic minority and a native of Zhunge’er County, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was born in December 1953. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1976 and graduated from Inner Mongolia University in 1982. Yang received a Master’s degree from the Party School of CPC Central Committee.

From 1970 to 1980: Worked in Zhunge’er Agricultural Machinery Factory; Served in the Organization Department of the CPC Zhunge’er County Committee and the Organization Department of the CPC Yikezhao League (now Ordos Prefecture) Committee.

From 1980 to 1982: Studied Chinese Literature at Inner Mongolia University.

From 1982 to 1985: Successively Secretary-General of the General Office of Yikezhao League government; Secretary of the Yikezhao League Committee of the Communist Youth League of China.

From 1985 to 1991: Successively Vice Secretary of CPC Dalate County Committee; Head of Dalate County; Secretary of CPC Dalate County Committee, Inner Mongolia.

From 1991 to 1996: Successively Deputy Director of the Statistics Bureau; Director of Tourist Bureau, and Secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee of Inner Mongolia.

From 1996 to 1998: Successively Secretary of CPC Zhelimu Prefecture Committee; Secretary of CPC Hohhot Municipal Committee; Chairman of the Standing Committee of Hohhot Municipal People’s Congress.

From 1998: Standing Member of the CPC Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee; Secretary of the CPC Hohhot Municipal Committee; Chairman of the Standing Committee of Hohhot Municipal People’s Congress.

From 2003: Vice Secretary of the CPC Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee; Acting Chairman of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

From 2004: Vice Secretary of the CPC Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee; Chairman of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

From Mar. 2008: Minister in charge of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission.

Alternate Member of the 16th CPC Central Committee; Member of the 17th CPC Central Committee.
