Wang Junxia (王军霞)

Wang Junxia (王军霞) won a gold medal in the women's 5,000 meter race and a silver medal in the women's 10,000 meter race at the Atlanta Olympic Games on July 28, 1996, to become China's first athlete to win two medals in the track events at the same Olympic Games. Wang was dubbed the "Oriental Deer.”

Born in Jan. 19, 1973, to a farmer family in Jiaohe, Jilin Province, Wang started training for long distance running in Dalian Spare-time Sports School in 1988. She was enrolled into the Liaoning Provincial Track & Field Team in 1991 and the National Track & Field Team in 1995. Her coach was Ma Junren,
