The Amended Constitution of the Communist Party of China

The amended Party Constitution (党章修正案) was approved by the Communist Party of China (CPC) at the closing of its 18th National Congress on Nov. 14, 2012, a day before the newly elected CPC Central Committee line-up is scheduled to meet with press and public.

In addition to its traditional guiding ideology, which includes Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of Three Represents, the amended Party Constitution incorporates the Scientific Outlook on Development into the Party’s guide for action.

The newly amended Constitution also incorporates into it the socialist system with Chinese characteristics as a fundamental cause for all of China's achievements and progress.

The focal point of the new Constitution lies in ecological process as a measure to elaborate on the country’s new direction towards sustainable development over the coming decades.

Additionally, it also emphasizes the significant role of both reform and opening-up policies, which are considered to be the guarantee for China’s future development.

The amended Party Constitution is a continuation of the guidelines that have been established since the founding of the CPC.
