The 60,000-seat Shenyang Wulihe Stadium was first built in 1989 over an area of 30 hectares. It is the main venue for large sports competitions and cultural activities as well as an important place for the development of sports and the growth of the sports industry. It was the main venue for the 2002 World Cup home matches played by the Chinese national team against the other seven teams in Asia to qualify for the final round.
