"People’s livelihood" (民生 mín shēng) is one of Sun Yat-sen’s Three Principles of the People (the other two are nationalism and democracy). Now, it generally refers to people’s living conditions and welfare, such as housing, education, health care, employment and social welfare. Those inevitably become the focuses of China’s two parliamentary meetings held every March and are repeatedly mentioned in the government’s annual work report and delegate proposals.
