Mount Wudang, also called Mount Taihe, is situated southwest of Danjiangkou City. Being the No. 1 in the Four Great Daoist Mountains in China, it has been known as the center and a holy land of Daoism since the Tang Dynasty. The complex of old buildings on Mount Wudang is in marvelous harmony with the natural environment. This “wonderland of immortals” was designated as a World Cultural Heritage site On December 15, 1994.
The mountain is also famed for the Wudang gongfu, one of the most important schools of China's wushu (martial arts).
