Mount Heng

Located 45 kilometers north from Hengyang City, Mountain Heng is one of the five famous Chinese mountain peaks with a reputation of being "the most outstanding among the five." The southern peak is a famous Buddhism Holy Land and Taoism showplace in China, and also famed as "Civilization Area." It is also known as "the longevity mountain" with longevity culture of long standing. Mountain Heng has tiered up mountains with green jade and woods gully deep and serene, surrounded by cloud and fog with overpowering momentum. It has good scenery in all four seasons with flower market in spring, Clouds Sea in summer, sunrise in fall and the auspicious snow in winter. It is always a destination for eminent writers and literates, who have left massive, inscribed steles and text-carved stones, making the southern peak of the moujntains become famous everywhere.
