Miao Wei (苗圩), Minister of Industry and Information Technology

Miao Wei (苗圩)

Miao Wei was born in May 1955 in Beijing. He is member of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He was an on-job-postgraduate of the Party School of the Central Committee of CPC and has worked as a senior engineer.

In 1982 he graduated from Hefei University of Technology majoring in internal combustion engines. He successively served as vice manager of the China Auto Sales and Service Company, vice manager of the Production Department of the China Automotive Industry Corporation, vice director of the Auto Department of the Ministry of Machine Building Industry, and vice chief engineer of the Ministry of Machine Building Industry.

In September 1997, he was appointed secretary of the Party Committee of the Dongfeng Motor Corporation.

In March 1999, he was appointed the general manager of the Dongfeng Motor Corporation and secretary of the Party committee.

In May 2005, he served as a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and secretary of the Wuhan Municipal Party Committee.

In March 2008, he was appointed vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and vice secretary of the leading Party group.

In December 2010, he was appointed Minister of Industry and Information Technology and secretary of the leading Party group.

Miao is an alternate member of the 17th CPC Central Committee and deputy to the 10th and the 11th National People's Congress.
