Located between the Ninglang Yi Prefecture of Yunnan Province and Yanyuan County of Sichuan Province, Lugu Lake (泸沽湖) is best known for a unique ethnic minority group the Mosuos, in addition to its beautiful landscape amidst green hills and abundant freshwater aquatic products.
The Mosuos are now probably the only ethnic group practicing a matriarchal clan system. Their unique Axia marriage system and primitive folk custom add a mysterious and splendid hue to this mysterious oriental kingdom of girls.
